New Delhi. There is a war in the Middle East after the American-Israeli attack on Iran. Iran has blocked the sea route by taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Tehran has allowed Indian tankers to pass through this route. Regarding this, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has revealed.
Foreign Minister Jaishankar said that some results emerge only through talks and it is a continuous process. He said, right now I am engaged in talking to him and some results have also emerged from this conversation. This process is still going on. If I see results coming from this, then obviously I will continue this conversation further.
He said, certainly from the point of view of India’s energy problems, it would be better if we debate among ourselves, coordinate among ourselves during talks and find a solution. The External Affairs Minister clarified that there is no comprehensive arrangement with Iran for Indian flagged ships and each movement of ships is an isolated incident.
He also denied that Iran had received anything in return. Jaishankar said that Delhi and Tehran have a history of dealings with each other and they held talks on this basis. He said, this is not an issue of exchange. There are relations between India and Iran. We consider this conflict extremely unfortunate. Dr. Jaishankar said, this is just the beginning. We have many other ships there. So, while this is a welcome step, negotiations are still ongoing as it is a work in progress.
Two Indian-flagged tankers carrying liquefied petroleum gas passed safely through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, this strait has now become a chokepoint. This strait is the only way for the Persian Gulf to reach the Arabian Sea.
