New Delhi. A student of IIT Hyderabad is being discussed a lot on social media. The reason is the email, whose subject line shocked the CEO and sparked debate on the Internet. The subject line of the mail received by Harshdeep Rapal, founder and CEO of Legit AI, was – Your name is in the Epstein files. Rapal was stunned after reading this, but when he opened the email, the story turned out to be different. The very first line was – Just kidding, I wanted you to open the mail. That means the whole matter was just to get attention.
The sender of the mail was a CSE student. He further wrote that he visited the company’s website and was especially interested in the concept of Smart Contracts Assistant. He introduced himself, expressed his desire to discuss and also sent his resume. The motive was clearly professional, but the beginning was so shocking that it became the center of discussion. Rapal shared the screenshot of this mail, while hiding the name of the student, gave a clear message – Friends, please do not do this. He told that his company works in contracts business, which is a very serious area. Accountability, ownership and professionalism are most important here. If the first email itself is filled with such subject and opening message, most founders will not like to respond.
As soon as the post went viral, there was a flood of reactions on social media. Many users described the student’s manner as immature. Someone said that with this thinking, no matter how skilled the candidate is, it is difficult to get a job, while someone called it non-serious and unacceptable. This whole matter once again made it clear that there is a world of difference between trying to go viral and trying to create a professional image. Your first email defines you. Wrong start and the chance is over before it even begins.
