
Guwahati: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Morigaon, Assam early on Monday. According to the latest information, the epicenter of the earthquake was Morigaon district of Assam. According to the National Center for Seismology, the intensity of this earthquake has been measured at about 5.1 on the Richter scale. This earthquake occurred at around 4:17 in the morning.
Earthquake has been reported in many parts of Assam as well as in the North-Eastern states of India. People were in deep sleep, as soon as they felt the shock, they got scared and came out of their homes. In this regard, officials said that till now there is no news of anyone being injured or any loss. The earthquake occurred 50 km away in Morigaon district on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra. People also felt tremors in the neighboring districts of Assam, Kamrup Metropolitan, Nagaon, East Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, Hojai, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar and Goalpara. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Darrang, Tamulpur, Sonitpur, Kamrup, Vishwanath, Udalguri, Nalbari, Bajali, Barpeta, Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Lakhimpur, situated on the northern bank of Brahmaputra.
The impact of the earthquake was felt in some areas of central-western Arunachal Pradesh, entire Meghalaya and many areas of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal. The report said that central-eastern Bhutan, some parts of China and Bangladesh were also shaken. The north-eastern area falls in the high seismic zone, due to which there is always a fear of earthquake here.
Tremors felt in Tripura also
At the same time, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), mild tremors of earthquake of 3.9 magnitude were felt in Tripura on Monday morning. According to the information, this tremor occurred at around 3:33 am on Monday morning at a depth of 54 kilometers.
