Parliament Vande Mataram Discussion: During the debate on ‘Vande Mataram’ in Rajya Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely targeted Congress. He said that when the golden jubilee of Vande Mataram happened, Jawaharlal Nehru had done the work of dividing Vande Mataram into two parts and limiting it to two parts. On this, opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge retorted and said that Prime Minister Modi never leaves any opportunity to insult Jawaharlal Nehru and Home Minister Amit Shah also does the same.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in Rajya Sabha, no one is afraid of discussing issues. We do not boycott Parliament. Whatever be the issue, we are ready to discuss but the mentality of postponing the discussion of Vande Mataram song is not new. When 50 years of Vande Mataram were completed, India was not independent.
What did Amit Shah say?
Amit Shah further said, “When the British imposed many restrictions on Vande Mataram, Bankim Babu had written in a letter that I have no objection if all my literature should be washed away in the Ganga, this mantra Vande Mataram will live for eternity, it will be a great anthem and will win the hearts of the people and will become the mantra for the reconstruction of India. Vande Mataram made a nation aware which had forgotten its divine power. To make the soul of the nation aware. Vande Mataram did the work, that is why Maharishi Arvind said that this is the mantra of rebirth of India.”
Mallikarjun Kharge hit back
Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge has hit back at Amit Shah’s statements during the debate on ‘Vande Mataram’ in the Rajya Sabha. Kharge said, “The members of the Congress Working Committee, which included Nehru ji, Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Azad, Netaji Subhash Chandra ji, Sardar Patel ji, Govind Vallabh Pant ji, passed a resolution recommending that wherever Vande Mataram is sung at national functions, only the first two verses should be sung. Was Nehru ji together in the Congress Working Committee? You insulted all those big leaders. Who had taken the decision together? Why do the Prime Minister and the Home Minister target Nehruji?
PM leaves no stone unturned to insult Nehru
Kharge further said, “Congress made ‘Vande Mataram’ a slogan during the freedom struggle. Your history has been that you have always been against the freedom struggle and patriotic songs. Prime Minister Modi leaves no opportunity to insult Jawaharlal Nehru and Home Minister Amit Shah also does the same.”
